أعلنتِ السلطاتُ التشيليةُ أنَّ طائرةً طبيةً تحطَّمت ليلًا قُرب سانتياغو بُعيد دقائقَ من إقلاعه، ما أسفر عن مقتل ستة أشخاص، هم جميع من كان على متنها.
وقالَ المسؤول في الحكومة المحلية في منطقة سانتياغو غونزالو دوران: إنّ عناصرَ من القوات الجوية التشيلية عثروا على حطام الطائرة خلال طلعة جوية على متن مروحية، وأكّدوا لاحقًا عدمَ وجود ناجين. وانقطعَ الاتصالُ بالطائرة بُعيد إقلاعِها باتجاه أريكا، المدينة الواقعة في أقصى شمال البلاد. وتحطَّمتِ الطائرةُ في مِنطقة جبلية يصعب الوصول إليها في منطقة كوراكافي الواقعة على بُعد نحو 40 كيلومترًا غرب العاصمة التشيلية. وكان على متن الطائرة ستة أشخاص، من بينهم مريض.
