أفاد فريق من العلماء من مختلف أنحاء العالم بأن المحيطات امتصت كمية قياسية من الحرارة عام 2025، مما زاد من احتمال ارتفاع مستوى البحار وحدوث عواصف عنيفة وموت الشعاب المرجانية.وقد ارتفعت الحرارة المتراكمة في المحيطات العام الفائت بنحو 23 زِيتَا جول، أي ما يُعادل استهلاك الطاقة الأولية العالمية لأربعة عقود تقريبًا.
وذَكَر الباحثون أنَّ هذه النتيجة التي نُشرت في مجلة «أدفانسيس إن أتموسفيريك ساينسز» تُعدّ أعلى قراءة سنوية منذ بدء تسجيل البيانات الحديثة في أوائل خمسينيات القرن الفائت.
